A Short Summary

The Purāṇas are ancient Sanskrit texts that contain dates for significant events in the history of the Universe.

Traditional Purāṇic Units

A new time unit: Pratisaṃdhi

  • Vāyu and Brahmāṇḍa Purāṇas state this time unit.
  • Vāyu Purāṇa (1.7.1-9)
  • Pratisaṃdhi lies between consecutive Kalpas

Śrīdhara Svāmī’s Factor-Of-Two

  • Śrīdhara Svāmī adds a factor of two for Solar years.

Earth’s Greatest Mass Extinction

  • Matsya Avatāra Pralaya is described as the most severe Pralaya
  • Pralaya is translated as Mass Extinction by  the famous Sanskrit scholar, Monier-Williams.
  • According to Matsya Purāṇa, the Pralaya the Pralaya took place two million years into the final Satya Yuga of Cākṣuṣa Manvantara (the previous Manvantara).
  • Since we are currently at the beginning of the 28th Kali Yuga of Vaivasvata Manvantara, the Pralaya occurred at the following time:
    = (One Caturyuga – 2) + Manvantara-Saṃdhyā + 28 * Caturyuga – Kali
    = 8.64 – 2 + 1.728 + 28*8.64 – 0.864
    = 251.152 million years ago

Western Dating of end-Permian Mass Extinction Catches Up With The Purāṇas

Origin of the Solar System

  • According to the Purāṇas, Brahmā feels the urge to reconstruct the Solar System at the end of his Night. Thus, the reconstruction starts at the beginning of the Pratisaṃdhi.
  • TSolar= Time since the end of the previous Kalpa
  • TSolar= Manvantara-Saṃdhyā + Pratisaṃdhi + 6 *Manvantara-Saṃdhyā + 6 * Manvantaras + Time since the end of Cākṣuṣa Manvantara
  • TSolar = 7 * Manvantaras + 7 * Manvantara-Saṃdhyā + Tcak
  • TSolar = 7 * 613.44 + 7 * 3.456 +  244.512  TSolar= 7 * 616.896 + 244.512
  • TSolar = 4562.784 million Solar years

Western Dating of The Universe Catches Up With The Purāṇas

Purāṇic date: 13.819 billion years ago

Year Western Dating
1916 Infinite
1930s 10 – 20 billion years
2000 11-15 billion years
2010 13.75 billion years

Implications

  • The Purāṇas are not mythology.
  • The Purāṇic description is higher-dimensional. Our Earth is a four-dimensional space-time projection of the higher-dimensional Purāṇic realm.
  • Events on our Earth are correlated with those of the Purāṇic realm.
  • Since the flow of events in the Purāṇic realm is controlled by Purāṇic gods, the flow of events on our Earth must also be controlled by them.
  • Purāṇic gods work under the direction of the Supreme God.
  • Thus, Stephen Hawking’s declaration that God is unnecessary has been solidly refuted.

Why are the Purāṇas relevant?

  • The Purāṇas offer a panacea for the current social and environmental maladies: Self-Realization Through Sound.
  • Unless the heart is purified of lust, anger, greed and envy, all other methods will fall short. The only way to purify the heart is through chanting and hearing the names and descriptions of the Supreme.
